Upgraded Smart Hub 5 to 6 a few days ago.
My Netgear extender is connected to all devices but states 'No Internet'.
It has had internet access but when turned off and back on there is no internet.
I don't know how I got it connected initially but it won't connect again.
All advice seems to be for 4 and 5 but none Hub 6 specific.
Please help before I retrieve my Smart 5 hub and reinstall.
PS. This is a follow onto a post that got too complicated.
Hi @EJB you might need to turn off smart set up on the Hub to allow the extender to connect.
The extender is looking for the SSID it's been setup for (i.e. your last router) but can't find it because it's not there.
Your options are, for a tech novice, simple or a little more complicated.
Logon to your new hub and change the SSID and Wi-Fi password to that of the previous hub. Note that you will have to connect all your devices to the old SSID.
More Complicated (simple really - it just seems more complicated)
Find the user manual for your extender, do a factory reset (of the extender not the hub) and set it up again the same way as you will have done previously
Did a factory reset on the extender and reset all. I had tried this before but may have not held the reset pin in long enough?
Everything is now working as before..ie....OK
The details were as per the new Hub6...... it had worked before.
The acid test is now to switch off the extender and see if it reboots successfully a little later.
Thank you so far.
Rebooted the extender after 30 mins and back to square one.
Have tried all I tried before with no luck.
I can still connect the Wi Fi devices directly to the router (via Wi Fi) but it isn't satisfactory in all cases.
What model is it?
I suspect that the signal is too weak where it is sited and that you probably need to move it closer to the hub,
To confirm, login to your hub, goto advanced settings and click My Network.
i) Can you see it in the device list?
ii) Is the background colour for that device green?
If the answer to both questions is Yes, open a new browser tab and enter the extender IP address, can you log into it?
If the answer to both is No, then you do need to move it closer to the hub
12 feet and direct sight to the Router.
2. No...not green ...grey?
Need to sign off until tomorrow...Thank you so far😊
The installation manual can be found at https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WN3000RP/WN3000RP_IG_13APR2012.pdf
The fact that it's in the device list proves that it has established a connection at some time but it won't hurt to pretend it hasn't and start again from scratch. I suggest you follow the instructions on page 7 option 1 to establish a connection with your hub.
The grey background means it wasn't connected when you checked ( was it powered up and enabled?)
Once you have set it up again, check the LEDs' against page 3 of the installation manual
Have been connecting as you describe but obviously tried again.
The extender lights all OK.
'No Internet. Secured.' is displayed on the extender....in the right hand available connections drop down list.
The actual router shows as 'Action Required'.
When I then connect to the router direct the router properties is marked 'Public' so I have to reselect 'Private' to access other devices.
At this stage everything works as it should with all devices. (on the router direct).
For info the router always shows one bar on reception whereas the extender always shows 3 bars (Maximum) around the property.
