Non BT router and BT OpenReach

I am replacing my BT home hub and router with a non BT modem/router. However the new rouetr does not detect the DSL input. Is there a compatability problem when using non BT equipment with BT OpenReach?

No, but are you sure it is a VDSL modem/router if you have Infinity rather than an ADSL modem/router. What is the exact make and model?

I have an ADSL Router - should it be VDSL?

If you have Infinity, yes.  What does the Hub show for modulation type?

Re: Non BT router and BT OpenReach

looks like I need a VDSL router/modem if I am to replace the two BT devices (modem and home hub).

Re: Non BT router and BT OpenReach

Just to get this straight. Are you trying to use a router with a VDSL modem with the Openreach modem? If so, you don't need the modem, you can just use the router.

Re: Non BT router and BT OpenReach

Right, I gotcha! So, you have a 3rd party ADSL router, and a BT VDSL router. If you want to use the ADSL router, you need to set it up in bridge mode to work with the Openreach modem. Or, you can use the BT router or buy a 3rd party VDSL router.

Hope that makes sense.
