The maximum data rate has changed slightly. There are no other phone lines/sockets connected to it, just the one.

In that case, its not your own internal wiring that is causing the problem.

If you can still hear noise on the phone while its plugged into the microfilter, then it looks like there is a fault on the line, and the noise is causing errors which means the actual connection rate has been reduced.

Are you fed from a telephone pole, via an overhead wire?

This is going to need a visit from Openreach to look at the external network. This would be a free visit, as you have proven that the fault is not within your home wiring.

You can tell them you have been on the user forum and have done the tests required.

There should be no need for Openreach to enter your property as the fault is external. The only issue may be if your line is external, and they have to renew the dropwire, and the connection block is inside your house.
