Older iOS won't connect with Hub 6

Hi

 

Just recieved my home hub 6. Initially it was working fine and noticed an improvement in wifi speed.

 

I decided to split the freq.  My new Oneplus 3 phone and Acer R13 Chromebook connected to the 5ghz range with no issues. 

 

I tried to connect my daughters ipod touch 2nd gen and sons iphone 4s to the 2.4ghz but it wouldn't connect. 

 

So I reset the home hub back to factory settings, but still the older devices wouldn't connect. 

 

I have revert back to the home hub 5 for now.

 

Advice most welcome. Paul

Did you also turn off "smart setup" on the Smarthub.

After you had separated to two SSIDs so that the 5GHz SSID had a "5" on the end, and the 2.4GHz SSID was unchanged, did you delete any reference to the home hub on the IOS devices first, then rescanned for wireless networks, and reconnected to the 2.4GHz SSID by re-entering the wireless password?
