I have recently upgraded to 500Mb down, 70Mb up FTTP. My previous connection was 80Mb down, 20Mb up. I was expecting to find the new service would fault free, however that’s not the case. Since install I’m losing packets continually. Sky Q box complaints of connection issues. Videos on devices stop and start. My sons PS5 complains of weak connection, despite being hard wired.
I disconnected my home network and tried plugging directly into the smart hub. Rock solid stable connection. No packet losses. I then started plugging switches back in, and this started my issues again. Of the 5 switches I have in various locations around the home, 2 new switches work fine, I have just replaced another switch, which is only a year old, if that. This one was dropping packets when tested. These 3 appear to be behaving normally. I have another 2 switches which, when I connect back up to the network, have this losing packets issue constantly. Is this just an issue that is more noticeable with a faster connection? Or have 3 switches all coincidentally begin to fail at the same time?
With my previous 80/20 wire connection there were no packet losses when connecting to any of the switches.
