Re: Pathetic Wifi speed, Ethernet is fine on Infinity 2

Could it be you have the same leeching problem that happens here?  Perhaps get wifi analyzer (free version) from the windows store just to put your mind at rest and then if you feel your wifi throughput is being eaten up by another user/s using your bandwidth you could opt out of wifi x and fon

the trick is to note the time stamp for your own router and match it with other x's and fon's and see if when your throughput is less (your graphical analysis peak will be lower and the shared x's and fon will be higher)  if this matches up over time you could go into your account and turn it off but it can take a while to turn off, even more than a month apparently.

We didn't turn ours off because in Wales the people paid for the cabling and infrastructure very dearly, it came out of every single one of our's pockets.  So unless we get back to where it become unusable again (don't think that will happen since we bought a local booster and we seem to get at least 10 mb/s always - which is fine for pretty well everything anyway)  it will stay on on ours.

wifi x and fon are not supposed to eat up your own wifi but it can and does.   In big cities they are installing 5G which I thoroughly disappove of in general.  It think its ARQIVA who have the contracts for that and I don't know who will be paying for it up front per-se but I have seen people  who "shoot-em down"  as soon as the pancake goes on their lamp posts and I don't blame them one bit.  In honesty I don't know and would hope that BT would not even contemplate 5G as their infrastructure but who can know what is going on.  It also irks me that ARQIVA has our TV network infrastructure but that's another thing altogether.

So try that little free app (wifi analyzer) and that could help you make a decision.

p.s. One final thing which is even more obvious and not looking for zebras, is make sure your pet can't lie on the wires or your vacuum cleaner etc can't in any way dislodge the connections to the various hard-wired devices you have.   That happened to my neighbour with their cat 🙂

can you run btspeedtester and when first test completes then run diagnostic test that follows and post results  must be done with wired connection and preferably with IE/Edge

That's odd that quiet line test has correct number but dslchecker does not recognise your number. Post code is least accurate so if phone number does not work can you try address
