PokerStars Client / Website

Just recently tried to log into my PokerStars client and found that it would freeze when it tried to update, naturally I thought must be something up with the servers but after checking a bit more I found that everything is working fine at PokerStars at the moment (I have a few friends who also play and can all connect as normal.)

Also when I go onto the PokerStars website I find that I can get onto the home page but when I click on a link or 2 google chrome comes up with the error message connection timed out etc.

I have also tried this on a seperate laptop and my mobile phone so I know it is not a fault with my laptop.

So I phoned customer services who told me that my internet is fine and I would need to contact the specialist technical team who I need to subscribe to (at £8 a month) in order to get help with a fault that seems to be at BT's end?

Hoping someone here can help otherwise I will be cancelling my BT first thing Monday morning and moving to Sky or Virgin Media.

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

Do you have parental control active?  If so you need you remove it

If you are in contract then cancelling may be expensive.

 cancellation charges

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

Thanks for the reply, no parental control is not active, I have also confirmed that it definitely must be a fault with wither BT or my router as I connected to my neighbours wifi temporarily and everything was working fine.

Surely they can't hold me to my contract if they are not providing the full "unlimited" service promised to me?

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

have you tried using a different browser to see if that connects  I can access home page but don't have account to go further

I don't think you will get out your contract as internet connection is working ok.  if BT were blocking the website there would be posts on the forum and also problems when doing a google search - there are none

I see that uk players had to download some software but could not see any date for that

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

Yeah, also tried other browsers.

It's a strange one but through elimination of other possible causes it must be either my home hub or BT that's causing this issue.  It was working fine a few weeks ago and I have also tried resetting the home hub with a pin to no avail.

I'm not sure if it's related but I have also found that I cannot download McAfee anti virus (as I even tried re-installing windows on my laptop to try and resolve the issue)

Could the router/BT be resctricing my downloads?

Appreciate the replies.

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

your router is not blocking your downloads more likely your anti virus or parental controls of some sort  did you check MYBT that there is nothing shown for parental controls

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

Hi

Did you manage to resolve this?  I have exactly the same issue and it must be BT  (Homehub or ISP) since I get the problem via Windows and also Chrome OS.  It is just pokerstars.uk which seems to be blocked.

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

I seem to have exactly the same issue. I changed pc's lately and want to download Pokerstars, but cannot even get to their website.

Any help much appreciated.

Re: PokerStars Client / Website

Hi Neil,

I do not have any parental controls switched on, in fact I have never even looked at parental controls. Could it be that there are default settings for this, that prevent Pokerstars from loading?

Thanks,

Dirk
