Poor wifi signal throughout my home

Only joined BT in july....so disappointed with the wifi range...buffering on phone even in same room...kids using their own mobile data upstairs. BT not been helpful as say download and incoming speed as it should be....say I need to buy BT boosters but no guarantee they will work....disappointed abd quite stressed with it all...any ideas please...

Try turning off the smart wireless functionality of the hub and trying different channels manully to see if that improves things. Despite the advertising hype, the wifi range of the hub will be fairly poor as it has internal aerials. A third party router with external aerials will give better coverage. Thanks for the info but going to sound totally ignorant now abd ask how do I turn off smart wireless functionality? They've already tried to do the channel change bit but no improvement. ...Carol

Before doing anything with the wireless speeds you need to check that your broadband is working as it should and is delivering the correct speed when connected by Ethernet.

 

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results. Make sure you delete your phone number before posting.

and use this speed tester then scroll down the page and carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

I expect you have the Smart Hub, (Homehub 6) can you go to hub manager then advanced then technical log and post the stats. http://bthomehub.home/

Ok...will do...and thank you...although they'd done all the tests and say I'm getting the required speeds but why does it take hours and hours,to download a program on catchup when the hub is directly connected to the sky box via ethernet cable?

Also, the readings on that test I did.....download speed...22.92!!! Really poor
