Re: Port 5222 - XMPP Protocol

Go to solution

Thanks Keith,

Funnily enough after I posted, I tried the query on UDP and it came back as LISTENING / FRILTERED. So I will give UDP a go and also resolve the DHCP issue and come back. Cheers.

UDP results can be misleading

This page seems to imply TCP

Re: Port 5222 - XMPP Protocol

Keith and Liam,

Thanks for all your help. After much more messing around, it seems for some reason my printer hadn't taken the default gateway address properly (my router IP), so therefore wasn't able to connect to the outside world !!! Maybe the DHCP had something to do with it.

After a lot of patience and installing/re-installing software/re-booting, I have managed to resolve the problem.

Thanks again for your swift responses and helping me learn more stuff !

Re: Port 5222 - XMPP Protocol

The DHCP server on the home hub is a bit buggy, and does sometime fail to issue IP addresses, and can also issue duplicate ones. Failure of gateway is another issue, which is why I advise using static IP addresses on all non-roaming devices.
