Spent hours on the phone today to try to resolve this with BT and my call was handed on from one to another agent for a total of 4 times. Finally, the last guy just hung up my call. It's been very frustrating.

A week ago I configured my Foscam IP camera on my home network with a static IP and setup BT Home Hub 5 with port forwarding on port 88 and 443 (there are 2 ways to access the camera: on http port 88 or https port 443). Built into the Foscam is a manufacturer's Dynamic DNS (DDNS) XXXX.myfoscam.org. Everything worked and I could access the IP camera from my mobile using the DDNS address or from work LAN outside my home network.
Yesterday evening things stopped working. I could no longer tunnel in from the outside. It thought it was due to the DDNS failing so I used the public IP address from the BT Home Hub which is the one found in Advanced Setting ... Broadband ... Internet.

When I attempted to ping and traceroute the public IP from an external server (ping.eu) it stalls - after 11 hops. See the hops below.
What should I do to fix this? Any ideas? Have tried to restart both the Home Hub 5 and the IP camera many times, still no luck.

Welcome to this user forum.
Its quite common for port forwarding to fail on the HH5, but you can usually fix it by making sure the Foscam is manually configured to a static IP address, outside if the DHCP range.

Foscam IP camera's static IP is 192.168.1.17 while the DHCP range is .64 to .253 (kept as default).
Really struggling to understand why I can't reach my public IP from an external server ...
Try the following.
Reset the home hub to factory default.
Configure port forwarding again, remembering to use the user defined IP address dropdown option, and manually entering the camera IP address. Do not select it by device name.
Long term, you may be better using a third party wireless router, and connecting it to the LAN1 port on the ONT.
Thank you very much for that suggestion. Spent some time over the weekend to reset the BT Hub back to factory setting. Reconfigured the port forwarding and voila it is now working.

I am sure it will be fine now, its often uPnP which causes the issue. Unfortunately the home hubs retain a lot of settings that can only be cleared by a factory reset.
