Port forwarding HH5

Go to solution

Hi Folks

Hopefully I'm being a bit thick so apologies in advance.

I'm trying to portforward 25000 but with not success (its for an alarm) and I can't get it to work. It seems to be accepted on the HH setup page but then I check with a port checker and its closed. I have a few other ports open in the 5XXX and 11XX ranges and they work fine.

I've tried multiple times with both HH5 and a netgear D6000 but I cant get  the port open.

BT cust serv reckon all ports are open (don't think they checked)

The alarm manufacturer only used port 25000 so I'm a bit stuck

Any ideas

All the best Paul

Ports are normally closed unless the application is in use so a port checker may well show the port as closed.  Have you actually tried to access whatever it is you need the port open for? If you are trying to access the alarm remotely using your mobile, you will need to use mobile data rather than wifi as the hub doesn't support NAT loopback. You will also need a dynamic DNS provider as your public IP address is dynamic and will change.

Thanks Licquorice

Fianlly got it sorted and we're not sure quite how - I suspect that the port didn't actually need to be forwarded.

All's well that ends well  🙂
