I am trying to view my CCTV system's cameras over the Internet, and I've read I need to set up Port forwarding, but I'm not sure how many ports I have to open and if they are TCP or UCP ?
I also seem to have the problem, that although I have connected the system to my BT home hub via Ethernet cab. The device doesn't appear, in the Home network map, in the hub manager. It just shows the speed of the connection, but no details or IP address.
I would not rely on the home network map. Follow my guidance and remember to set the IP address on the camera itself.
General help here Port forwarding problems
I have a number of Foscam IP cameras which work just fine.
I have finally got the CCTV to connect to the router, and have the port forwarding set . I can log on to the video feed from the CCTV locally via WiFi on my phone, however, when I switch off my wifi and try to connect to CCTV, via internet , using the 4g signal on my phone, I just get the message that the Server is unavailable. Would there be anything else on the router, blocking the CCTV camera access to the Internet ?
Is there anyway I can test that the ports are open to the Internet ?
It works find on local home network.
