I have tried splitting, and I have tried changing WPA and not made any difference.
I have yet to do a factory reset, as can't decide whether I have actually changed anything.
Interestingly I have a tplink wifi extender and this has a different password, and is only 2.4 and I can connect to that....but that is in my garden shed!
tried switching off 5hz too
Smart plugs are contrary what app are you using to connect, 5g must be off, once off reboot the router and try again. Some plugs fail to connect to routers for some reason.
Change the SSID of the home hub, so that it does not have any non-alphanumeric characters, as some devices do not like the "-" in the SSID.
Change it to something simple, like BThub, then try searching and connecting the smart plug again.
Also the password may be an issue, like in this camera post.
will give the name change tomorrow as nothing else will work, and off to bed soon.
The wifi extender doesn't have a - in it, but does have a similar long password, so it could be that.
I have renamed, factory reset, split channels, turned off 5 and renamed. Tried to connect after each stage.
Timed out on every attempt
Finding a paperclip was a challenge, don't really have stationery these days....
There is a possibility that the smart plug is faulty, most are Chinese that have a high failure rate.
If you can, take it to another router, a friend maybe, see if it will connect to that as a test.
Alternative is connect to your extender.
Hope that helps, let us all know how you get on because it helps others with similar problems.
