Good evening,
I helped out my neighbour earlier today when she needed internet access to contact family due to an issue she experienced. I told her I would take her off again later on as I cannot (and don't want) someone else on my network as I also work from home.
Fast forward a couple hours and I went into the Smart Hub Manager and was able to remove her when she left the house and showed as inactive. She is now back in the house and shows online on my Hub Manager!!
When I removed her, should this not have actually removed her ? I'm guessing she must have saved my password. Silly me helping someone else out...
I would like to avoid having to change password but is this my only option ? Or should the "remove" button have done what it said ? Is there any way to block someone once they are inactive and if so, how can I do this ?
Thank you
Solved! Go to Solution.
Even if you remove someone there's nothing to stop them reconnecting. If you want to be sure you'll have to reset the password.
Removing them from the list does just that and nothing else. As long as they have the password they can simply connect at will.
Hi, what a bummer 😞
But thank you for coming back to me.
I have the Smart Hub 2 and I have the My BT app but nowhere on there can I see the Home Network option to change the wifi password. Any idea where else I need to look ?
Log onto hub manager on a browser (192.168.1.254) and advanced settings> wireless
Found it! Seems it wasn't set up yet. I've now changed the password.
So far, so good. I don't see her online and hope there wasn't a work-around on her end.
Lesson learned. Thanks for your help!
It sounds like you have just changed the BT Hub's admin password, it must be changed the first time you log onto the BT hub.
What you should be changing is the wireless password.
To do that log onto your BT hub then click on the Wireless box the click "Change Settings" then go to "Security Password" and change that to something that you can remember then click "Save".
When you do change that password any devices that you connected with wireless (wifi) will be disconnected until you enter the new wireless password on them.
