Replacing Homehub 6

Hi,

I have a FTTP connection and currently using the homehub 6.

With my setup, am I correct in saying that the homehub 6 used as a router only and the modem is the white box attached to the wall?

I'm looking to get a Netgear XR500 pro gaming router. Mainly for the geo filers and network managing tools?

Will the XR500 just replace the homehub and plug straight into the modem on the wall?
