Replacing smart hub

Go to solution

Apologies if this is a dumb question

we had fibre to the home installed last year and have a single white openreach box in the garage (see photo) which is connected to a BT smart hub 2 in the house. I then have a deco M5 unit plugged into that (and two others around the house)

Do I need the SH2 ? Or could I just plug the Ethernet cable into the Deco and use ppoe with standard bt username etc to access internet ? ie is the openreach box acting as the modem ?

or is the SH acting as the fibre modem ?

No, you don't need the SH2. Connect the decoM5 WAN port directly to the ONT (the white box).
