I have been in contact with Riot Support for 3 weeks and they have narrowed the issue down to it being due to a routing issue and they claim this is why I am unable to stay connected to their servers. The error code I end up with when I disconnect is VAN-72. They have made me take a PingPlotter test and this is the most recent one which I sent to riot support which they believe verifies its a ISP issue and not due to their server.
This PingPlotter test was taken when I was inside of a custom game and crashed within a minute in
This is what Riot Support had to say:
"Taking over from ***** to say that you can send your ISP the Ping Plotter results, so they can see them and the packets loss too. The gist of it is that the 3rd hop has almost all of its packets lost (the big red bar shows it) and to simply ask for a reroute, as that'd let you bypass the massive packet loss there. Telling you this, cuz we only take care of the last hop which is always shown as 100% packet loss, despite that not being the case."
I have followed all of their steps such as adding firewall exceptions to Valorant, Riot Vanguard and riot client and also fully uninstalling Valorant and Vanguard for a fresh installation. I have even tried doing it on another computer and tried using a wireless dongle and I have had the same issue. I have also recently added port forwarding ports in my hubs settings which I was guided through by a BT staff member however this still hasn't fixed it.
Hopefully someone can help me out with this issue. This issue started on the 1st of August.

@entrophy I've seen someone report similar issues very recently - they fact that the last such entry on these boards dates back to 2023, makes me think it may have been on a different forum. So working from memory Valorant/Vanguard have had issues with NAT types, so double natting (one router behind another) can be a problem, as can using routers that use the mobile phone network. However, I believe the issue has still reared it's head even without those situations being present.
The games running fine here (they do), does not mean that I don't believe you!
There is a problem though with the level of understanding that the Riot games support team has regards ping-plotter! If you get no packets reported at an intermediate stage it does not mean that the data is being lost at that node, just that the node is not responding to pings! If I've 100% loss at step 4, but 0% loss at step 5, then the methodology is wrong! *Ping-Plotter can be a great tool when used correctly, just it can be very easy to jump to the wrong conclusions based on it's output!
so what should i do to fix it. is what your trying to say is that they have made a mistake and its actually due to them?
Thats the whole problem, you are not the first person I've seen report this issue, and I don't think everyone who has reported it, has managed to find a cure! I guess it would have helped if Riot Games had not, in their infinite wisdom, chosen to remove the community support forums!
Do you have any suggestions in a way to fixing this issue as honestly im up for anything
There is absolutely nothing you can do as an individual. BT will not investigate a supposed routing problem reported by an individual customer.
The supposed packet loss at node3 is just that node having better things to do than respond to pings.
It could still be a symptom of a problem, but you are not losing packets. Packets can't miraculously be recreated at the next node if they are lost.
So the best thing I can do currently is just try finding a solution on my own?
There is no solution.
Dredging what I can of support for the games: On the BT router, turn on UPnP, put your gaming machine on a static IP and forward UDP ports 7000-8000 and 8180-8181 to it, also add the machine to the routers DMZ. The problem is this really does open holes in your firewall that you can drive a bus though!
The other option is to connect the gaming machine directly to the ONT or modem, and set up a connection (that passes username and password). If this last one works, then it's not a routing issue. And again, this is a serious potential security breach!
Adding my machine into the routers DMZ worked instantly and I was able to play 2 competitive games without disconnecting and also maintaining a stable 9-10 ping. However, I think adding the ports is also needed as I had done it when the BT Staff Member had helped me out with one of the ports. I went out of my way and added all the ports needed for riot games on their website.
