I have been using an old HH5 with my MacBook pro for some years and have now just tried to change to a TP-Link Archer VR2800 router. Presently back to HH5. FTTC Infinity1 service.
Using Ethernet LAN1 wired, I can access the internet ok but when I start the WiFi this connection is lost totally. WiFi passwords are ok on both channels but I get a warning of "DNS error". I have run the WiFi diagnostics but being very green at WiFi matters it has me baffled!
It appears there is no working link between the WiFi settings and the router's internet settings.
Any ideas as to how I can get over this would be gratefully received! Thank you.
Thank you @ V_Meldrew it does look like DNS can be a problem with some setups.
Fingers crossed, I am now up and running with WiFi and using the old 184.108.40.206 Google public servers is the main change along with rebooting the router and my Mac several times. Hopefully this will be a permanent fix.
Interestingly, my iPhone 5S connected straight away when I entered the 5G password but not my laptop.
Thanks for providing me with links to many useful case notes.
