Router for BT infinity 1

Go to solution
Dear all, I read some posts about smar hub replacement, I'm not an expert so bear with me.
I understand that these two are good options:
- TP-LINK TD-W9970
- Billion BiPAC 8800NL

However, I read some issues with TP link not supporting Ipv6.
I don't mind both, I don't want to buy an expensive router
I have BT TV, and infinity 1 fibre broadband

Thanks in advance

Hi @Mahmoudmoussa

Either of these should work fine for you. To support BT TV you want a router that suppors IGMP snooping, both these do. I might add the Archer VR400 to the list of candidates too as it has dual band radio's which might be helpful if there are competing networks in the 2.4GHz range nearby. You can use a WiFi Analyzer app on your mobile to check out how many 2.4 / 5 GHz networks are around you ahead of time.

It's maybe not worth bothering about IPv6 at all. It's taken 20 years to reach 20% adoption. Sure, it's the future, but it won't be displacing IPv4 anytime soon. Data: https://www.google.com/intl/en/ipv6/statistics.html

Cheers

P.
