I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet. I have linked my BT mail account using IMAP but cannot get my BT mail contacts onto the tablet. I tried linking using POP3 too and this didn't work.
I am not technical and getting on in years so if anyone knows how to do this can you make it step by step please !
Many thanks
Your contacts won't sync with those on your BT email account. You will need to import them onto your tablet/email app so that they are accessible to your email app.
You have probably had to set up a Google account on your tablet so that you can access the Playstore. This will also give you a gmail account. You can import your contacts from BTMail to gmail and this in turn will let you access them on your tablet.
or you can export your BT contacts by opening your contacts list and clicking the "export" button and saving it to your computer then connecting your tablet to your computer and "import" the contacts to your tablets contacts app.

Many thanks, I'll give it a go and see how I get on.
If you are not sure what to do, if you have a family member of the younger generation I'm sure they will be able to help.
No younger members I'm afraid ! Will try tomorrow if time. Thanks. Can you hire a ten year old legally ?
I had a go at this yesterday, but chickened out ! I opened my contacts on BT Mail and selected Export from the drop down 'More' . It then asked me if I was sure I wanted to export all my contacts which worried me that they would all disappear from my BT Mail Account.
As I still want to use BT Mail not gmail am I better just accessing my bt emails via google search on the tablet ?
The contacts will not disappear. It will make a copy of them and save them to a folder of your choosing.
You don't need to use gmail. It is only a means to an end to get your contacts easily onto your tablet.
Yes they will still be in your BT contacts list.
Once you have them as a file on your tablet you would then need to open your BT email account and go to contacts then import the saved contacts file into your email app on your tablet.
