Setting up ASUS AC2900 RT-AC86U as a Smarthub Replacement

Go to solution

Hi,

So have had FTTP for a couple of weeks now, impressive speed but the SmartHub2 is not impressive.

Unlike my old Homehub where you could force the 2.4 or 5GHz connections you cant on the new Smarthub as covered in other topics.

Have purchased a new ASUS RT-AC86U so I can split the 2,4 and 5GHz connections with the two SSID's.

The ASUS has been plugged in correctly but dont know where to go from here as regards BT Username and password, is the connection PPPoE etc.

Anybody had experience on setting these up as a replacement?

Thanks

As posted countless times on the forum, PPPoE username and password are the generic bthomehub@btbroadband.com and BT respectively.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

Have seen a few topics on here and elsewhere when people were advising not to use a password.

Thanks for clarifying though, everything works great.

Hi,

Yes, using the information above, router connected no problems and I can now have two SSID's and more control over what connects to the faster connection.
