Sipgate etc VOIP on residental BT Infinity - is it blocked or allowed?

Go to solution

Can't get a straight answer from BT customer service as they keep saying that VOPI is only on business lines - I suspect they are talking about their own VOIP service.

Can anyone asnwer me, before we switch to BT, can I use my own VOIP devices (e.g. for sigpate) on Infinity (residential)?

(I'd be using my own router too).

Many thanks,

Welcome to this user forum. @theFlash

There is no restriction on VOIP. The home hub can have issues, but as you are using your own router there should not be any problems.

Make sure that you do not enable BT Web Protect or BT Parental Controls, as they can interfere with some services.

Thanks.

Seems a no brainer considering it looks like calls to UK landlines are free, without that annoying hour limit, which we've just been stung by.
