Sky+HD On Demand services not working with Home Hub 5

I have just had installed the BT Infinity with the BT Home Hub 5 router. Speed is excellent, all PCs, Tablets, Phones, Smart TV and PS3 connect fine to the hub and thus through to the Internet.

The device I am having problems connecting properly is the Sky+ HD box which is connected through to the BT Home Hub 5 by Ethernet.

It picks up its IP address fine from the router but fails to connect through to the Sky On Demand service. To date BT and Sky on line technical people cannot help me.

Looking at forums on the Internet there seems to be lots of people describing this problem but nobody seems to have a definitive fix. I tried port forwarding 3700 as some suggested but no luck.

Has anyone got a fix for this as it is mightily frustrating.

Re: Sky+HD On Demand services not working with Home Hub 5

Hi,

I had the exact same issue (albeit with the HH4 on standard broadband) having just joined BT on Thursday.

The SKY box was assigning an IP OK but On Demand was showing as 'Fail'.

My fix was to hold the standby button on the SKY box to completely power it down (ie the red stand-by light was showing) and then to start it back up again. On Demand connected fine after that.

Hope this helps

Re: Sky+HD On Demand services not working with Home Hub 5

I don't see that this has been mentioned but it worked for me:

Switch off TV, Sky box, Sky connector and BT home hub at the mains plug. All of these must be switched off at the same time so choose a moment when no one  in the house needs to be online/watching TV or using the phone. Even your mobiles should not be trying to access Wifi. Tricky I know but it can be done!

Go away and make coffee or something for 15 minutes

Come back. Switch on home hub first and make sure it works (i.e. internet access on your PC, wireless access to another device such as ipad or phone)

Switch on TV, sky box and sky connector

Wait 5-10 minutes until these have all sorted themselves out and talk to each other (rebooting sky box in particular can take longer than you think!)

Try on demand again.

After days of trying to research a solution, phoning Sky and BT and getting no joy from anyone, this worked for us. I'm sure some of you have already tried this, but just in case you haven't, this might help someone!
