Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

I assume you have disabled Private address Mac randomisation on your devices?

Disable mac private address randomisation?  Can you explain where I find that for disabling?

No idea, I don't have any Apple devices. Google will no doubt tell you how.

Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

@licquorice  It seems that the Mac OS does not permit disabling the feature (although iPhone iOS does).

I tried configuring the MAC address to manual and custom MTU. I'll see how that performs.

What makes you think this may be a cause of the issue?  I have not had the wifi drop problem before, and it seemed to occur after a Smart Hub 2 firmware overnight update.   I also have iPhones which don't seem to experience loss of wifi (although I ma not using them continuously like my Mac)

It just seems to be Apple devices having problems and was something to try and eliminate as a cause rather than anything concrete.

@NicolasS Are you seeing the dropped wifi on all devices?  Are they Macs?  Possibly a new, M1 Macbook?

Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

Hi

I want to chip in.

I have the same problem with Smart Hub 2, but not as far as @pmosb where it comes to diagnostics.

I am on MacBook Pro M1 and I see regular dropouts, but also see them on Samsung phone, Huawei phone and Lenovo tablet.
The only way to fix the issue ofr me is to turn off WiFi on the device and turn it back on.

My hub is relatively new, < 6 months.

I feel it all started with firmware update to v0.31.00.10253-BT

Example pattern is as follows, in this case Galaxy A32 phone

Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

@pmosb afternoon, sorry for the late reply. I am having drop out on all devices whether WiFi or wired and it is across, Apple, Android and Microsoft.

No one turned up to last weeks appointment but today someone did turn up. He couldn't really help and has submitted a report. So sadly I can't really report anything back.

Moving over to FTTP hasn't been the best move I've made.

Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

Fttp has been brilliant for the past 2 years.  No complaints.  But the recent drop of connection is the same kit so I assume it is a latest firmware issue.  I can’t say I have noticed wired loss of connection, but I only use TV and Apple TV and Amazon wired - so 10 secs loss won’t show up during video playback.

Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

The engineer did say he thought it was the firmware. He said if it wasn't for the DV i would suggest buying a good router. The dropouts on wired devices for me have shown up. I'm just ready to throw the hub out the window lol.
