Re: Smart Hzub 2 WiFi Speed

Hi @Bernie747,

Welcome back to the Community.

Sorry to hear that you might be having the same issue.

Can you check within your hub manager what firmware version your hub is currently on?

Re: Smart Hzub 2 WiFi Speed

Hi @almondslice   50 mbps sounds like the maximum available on a 2.4 GHz band. How do you know that you are connected using the 5 GHz band?

Re: Smart Hzub 2 WiFi Speed

My download speeds above (circa 120mbps) were when connected to 2.4ghz, according to the My Bt app.
Allegedly (but I only have this anecdotally) the current SmartHub2 soft/firm ware is capping the speed to a FTTC standard, hence the scheduling of the upgrade. Don’t know how long that will take to roll out.

Re: Smart Hzub 2 WiFi Speed

Hi @Johnmorris278   The My BT App v8.5.2 shows all devices connected using the 2.4 GHz band irrespective of actually being connected by Ethernet, 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz. Only the Smart Hub 2 Manager shows the correct connection.

Re: Smart Hzub 2 WiFi Speed

Oh!

maybe I’m too trusting of My BT app, how do I know the speeds it gives me are correct?

They’re always higher than the other options.

Re: Smart Hzub 2 WiFi Speed

Hi @Johnmorris278   I trust the speeds shown in the My BT App. They are spot on for me. It is only the v8.5.2 version that shows the wrong connection. We live in hope that the next update will fix the error 😀

Re: Smart Hzub 2 WiFi Speed

Actually,  I'm finding the WiFi pretty disappointing on the hub , still no answer as to why the bandwidth via WiFi was poor .  I replaced it with my Google WiFi mesh and instantly noticed a significant improvement > 100Mbps on wireless.
