Smarthub 2 portal says its issuing ip addresses in one range, but my devices are getting another..?!

Hello there

The portal for my smarthub 2 says its issuing ip addresses in the 192.168.1.xxx range and some devices have indeed been given an address in this range. However, recently, its been handing out addresses in the 192.168.5.xxx range and this has become a problem because my new printer gets one of these new 192.168.5 addresses but my iMac is on the old 192.168.1 range and cannot see it - very frustrating. Even worse, the portal make no mention of the 192.168.5 range nor any of the devices on it. I cannot see anywhere in the portal to make any changes to the dhcp server. This is very frustrating.

Has anyone BTDT on this or anything similar?

Many thanks!

Are you sure they are getting the addresses from the hub and not another device?

The default hub range is 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.253

The ranges can be changed at Advanced settings > My network > IPv4 configuration

Just a guess but could some devices be connected to the public hotspot instead of the SSID? Although I've no idea what address range that uses or how a printer could accidentally connect to it.

As @licquorice alluded to, could some other device on your network also have a DHCP server enabled?

BTwifi hotspot range is a completely different range.

My hub issues addresses in the range of 192.168.22.xxx when logging on to the BT Wi-Fi network.

Do you have another router connected to your network acting as an access point? if so then you need to disable the DHCP server
