Static IP address / turning off DHCP server on the HH5

Hi,

I've just had a 'chat' with BT and apparently you can't do this, unless you convert to a business account (which will probably cost more. Still tbd).

So, what other options are there to achieve the same result?

Thanks.

Re: Static IP address / turning off DHCP server on the HH5

Are you talking about a static public IP address or static IP addresses for you devices on your LAN? You can turn of DHCP on your HH5 and set static addresses on your devices if you wish. If you need a static public IP address for port forwarding reasons such as viewing CCTV remotely, you can use one of the many dynamic DNS providers.

Re: Static IP address / turning off DHCP server on the HH5

I've looked at my router, and I can't see anyway to turn off DHCP. Where can I do this? Thanks.

I don't have that option. Only Broadband, Wireless, Firewall, My network, Technical log, BT access control, IPv6, and System

Have a look in My network. The settings I gave in the last post are for a HH5 type A.

Just poke around in the settings until you find it.

Re: Static IP address / turning off DHCP server on the HH5

Why do you need to turn off DHCP in any case? If you set static IP addresses outside of the DHCP range of the hub on your devices, DHCP won't be used anyway.

What is it you are actually trying to achieve?
