Swann CCTV -Port forwarding - no outside connection to app (SH6)

Hi,

I have recently installed a Swann CCTV system but am struggling to access the APP to view the live feed outside of the network at home.

I am new to alot of this and have done as much research as i could on the forum and online, i have attempted port forwarding any ports swann recommned but still appear to be having issues connecting with the Smart Hub 6?

I have set up everything to the best of my knowledge on the matter and included photos of the settings, any advice on what i might be doing wrong to get this to work?

Can you post a screenshot of your port forwarding settings. How are you trying to access the camera, if you are trying to access it on your public ip address via a phone using your own wifi it won't work. You need to use mobile data rather than your wifi as the hub doesn't support NAT loopback.

Re: Swann CCTV -Port forwarding - no outside connection to app (SH6)

thank you licquorice for the reply,

please see below a screen shot of the settings I missed off earlier.

in regards connecting I am using Swanns Homeview app which connects perfectly fine when on wifi in the home but as soon as you go onto 3g/4g or another network it looses all connection?

would there be a better way of mobile viewing the DVR if not through the App?

Have you also configured and registered with a Dynamic DNS service? I believe Swann have their own. Does the app connect via a host name or IP address? I'm afraid I'm working from first principles here as I don't have a CCTV system.

Re: Swann CCTV -Port forwarding - no outside connection to app (SH6)

I have registered a dns host name but that only works on a computer and not on the app.

The IOS app works on a QR code or IP address as far as I am aware.

As far as I can research the ports 85/9000 need to be open but are not showing as open from what I see.

They won't be permanently open, they will only open as required when the app attempts to connect. Have you turned off UPnP, it needs to be off as it will conflict with port forwarding.

Edit. Just looked at your earlier screenshot, UPnP off

Make sure that on the Swann app you go into the settings and tick the boxes Auto Start live view over Wifi and Auto Start live view over 3G/4G

Thanks gg30340,

The home view app only has a setting in apps setting for mobile data and that is on? This is why I’m getting confused at what else could be causing the problem

Re: Swann CCTV -Port forwarding - no outside connection to app (SH6)

I use the Swann View Link app which was very easy to set up.

In your hub settings set it to always use the same IP address.

If you can see the CCTV on your wifi it is most likely just a setting that needs ticked or unticked. Check to see if your app has a "Connect Mode" in the "Device" Section. If it has set it yo P2P.
