Can anyone help me please?
My company **Edited** has installed a Unified Agent Blue Coat onto my work laptop and I now can't browse the internet when I'm not connected to the VPN.
I have spoken to my IT support desk and they think that BT are blocking the traffice because it is going through a web cloud service.
Solved! Go to Solution.
From a security point of view, that would be normal behavior. Its to prevent an accidental connection between the secure VPN, and your insecure Internet. You should however be able to browse the Internet using a gateway on your company Intranet.
It would also prevent you browsing the Internet, without going via the VPN. This is to avoid the risk of virus or malware infection, which could infect the company network.
The company gateway would be filtered to prevent access to unapproved websites.
The only solution would be to use your own personal laptop or desktop computer.
Thank you for coming back to me but it used to work when the software was installed.
My company seems to think that BT should be able to fix this.
Can someone at BT fix this please because it use to work
Look forward to hearing from you
If all you want is browsing then you could download Tor Browser and give that a try. Should bypass VPN restrictions. If you can't get it while at work you could use a library computer or ask a friend to get it for you.
Best long term solution is to get your own kit. PC/laptop or whatever. Not that expensive. Then you can't compromise your works device.
Please can this post be removed, it is not an issue anymore.
