Using PC crashes Smart Hub

I wonder if anyone could help me with a problem I am having. This issue has only started in the past month.

I currently use a Smart Hub (Home Hub 6) and have various devices connected wirelessly (iPhones, iPads, TVs) and my PC connected via Ethernet.

If my PC is off my Smart Hub and internet function fine on all the other wirelessly connected devices. When I turn my PC on and begin using it the internet goes down and the Smart Hub resets itself. This usually happens within 10 minutes of the PC being on. It can happen multiple times during an internet browsing session or just once - there really is no pattern to it.

I tried to change my PC to a static ip via the Home Hub Manager but it doesn't save the setting. Frustrating!

Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this issue?

Re: Using PC crashes Smart Hub

Get a decent 3rd party router and ditch the (not so) smart hub.

Will a third party router work with BT?

I've heard reports that only the Smart Hub will work with BT Infinity?

That's good to know! And will be a good back up plan but before I invest in a new router, I'd really like to work out what the issue is too.

The issue is the (not so) smart hub!

How can you be so sure? (I should add - not that I'm doubting you!)

Just make sure it is a VDSL modem/router.

Re: Using PC crashes Smart Hub

I've a Nvidia Shield that if it asked for an IP address from the Home Hub via DHCP it will crash the home hub.

The way to solve it was to set the device to static IP address in the device setting (not on the home hub)

if if you set your pc to a static address within Windows it should stop this from happening.
