Using hub usb port external drive for ftp

I realise similar questions have been posted but I am somewhat confused by some answers. So here is my attempt at the question.

I have a BT smart hub 2. Attached to the usb port is a Seagate 2Tb external hard drive.

I would like to set this up as an FTP server for storing some security cam footage.

There are many descriptions on the Web of using router Ftp facilities to set up usb storage this way. However, in the smart hub front end, I cannot find such a facility so I think this might not be simple.

I have Windows 10 connectivity plus Android connectivity to the router and the usb drive, including Explorer access to the usb drive on Windows 10. Can anyone explain, in simple terms, how I could set this up? I expect it would be simpler via Windows
