VPN connection to work

Go to solution

When trying to connect to work using the CiscoAnyConnect VPN I keep getting the message below from Cisco.  All other connections and devices work OK when connecting to the internet. Any help please? Thank you.

'The service provider in your current location is restricting access to the internet. You need to log on with the service provider before you can establish  a VPN session. You can try this by visiting any website with your browser.'

Which BT Home hub are you using?

Have you made sure you can connect to the Internet, before starting the VPN?

Are you connecting using wireless or Ethernet?

If you are using a wireless connection, can you make sure that your computer is not accidentally connecting to BT Wifi/FON and not your normal wireless connection, as that would account for the need to login first?

Have you tried connecting direct to the home hub, using an Ethernet connection, to see if the problem is still there?

Has this only happened since you got the new smart hub 2?

Have you seen this Cisco help page https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/anyconnect-secure-mobility-client/118086-technot...

Captive Portal Hotspot Detection

You can disable that option.

Re: VPN connection to work

I was told the VPN would drop occasionally when I had Home Hub 5. but the frequency has increased since I got the Smart Hub. A BT engineer once told me the VPN drops because the Hub is so powerful.
I have an Ethernet cable connected directly to the Smart Hub.
