i have just removed the discs again, waited for a while and connected just one and there is a better response from the pings to the printer. only one request timed out in about 20 responses which is a lot better and i also tried out a test print which came out in less than two minutes compared to about 30 minutes before. This is a better sign even though not 100% as i should not be getting timeouts from ping to a device on my network.

My network discovery has always been off and i could still ping so i am looking at the discs and hub at the moment and will monitor following on from my last update.
You need network discovery on at home so that your network profile can be Private. Otherwise you will still be able to ping your printer but not print.
