Website access via HomeHub

I am having problems accessing some websites via my Smart Hub.  The sites seem to mainly be https ones (eg mydonate.bt.com, Santander) but I can access some secure sites OK (eg Amazon, Tesco).

I can access the problem websites fine via a mobile hotspot and have tried other laptops through the Hub and had exactly the same issues.

I have tried a factory reset on the hub (using the button on the back of the hub) but no success.

Anyone had similar issues....and found a solution?

Re: Website access via HomeHub

It could be DNS issues. If you have a laptop or desktop computer, then try changing the DNS server settings from automatic, to Google Public DNS  8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and see if it helps.

Re: Website access via HomeHub

Hi Keith

Many thanks for the prompt suggestion.

I have tried changing the DNS addresses but that has not made any difference I'm afraid.

Best Regards

Did you flush the old DNS cache?

Re: Website access via HomeHub

Yes - no success.

If it helps, the error message is

"This site can’t be reached
mydonate.bt.com took too long to respond."

Re: Website access via HomeHub

Have you tried changing IPv6 DNS to 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844 as well?

Re: Website access via HomeHub

It sounds like a routing issue. If you have restarted the home hub a few times, your public IP address should have changed, and in theory the routing.

Try this address https://www.btplc.com/mydonate/index.aspx which the DNS entry points to.

Re: Website access via HomeHub

Can you do a tracert to the host?

Also try the direct IP address 212.140.56.90
