Whole Home Wifi Problem (Too many redirects)

Go to solution

Installed Whole Home a week ago and it's been fine. Until today. All day today I get a "Too Many Redirects" error message for pretty much every website I attempt to visit. This happens regardless of which device I'm using (Macbook, PC, etc). However, I can still receive emails. If I connect to a Hotspot (A BT Powerline one) that is still in use, I have no problems with the very same websites.

I have the same issue if I try and connect my iPhone to the WH network, Have restarted. The discs all showing good signal. The App shows correctly which devices are connected.

@stevebyatt

Which BT Home hub are you using?

Hello Keith

Home Hub 4

Thoughts?

Was thinking about completely re-installing the Whole Home Discs- and just starting again!

I would first try a factory reset of the home hub 4, as that is the weakest link in the chain.

OK- will confess to not fully understanding how some of this stuff works... however, the Powerline WiFi Hotspot- is also connected to the Hub and I can get access to webpages with no prlems if I connect to that rather than the WW network. Is that relevant?

Not really, as the home hub could be internally routing to that device without any problems, its just not routing correctly to the whole home wifi.

The home hubs tend to "forget" routes, and need a factory reset to rebuild the ARP table.

I would power down the whole home disks while you do the reset, then power them up again when the home hub come back online.

I have seen the "too many redirects" messages on wireless repeaters.

Spoke to soon. Error reappeared after a few hours. Rang BT. Told to use App to "remove" the discs, do a factory reset on each then reinstall. This worked for just over a day. Now same error. Can get access to some sites. Searches work fine. I receive emails. But many attempts lead to "too many redirects"!
