Wi-fi connection from a desktop

Hello, I am trying to connect my desktop to Bt Infinity via W-fi. I need a 'dongle' (Correct term?) to be able to make that connection. Can anyone tell me what make model I need. I have an old Windows XP operating system and I use a Linux operating system(Pclinuxos) on the same desktop. Thanks.

Re: Wi-fi connection from a desktop

It would be better to use broadband extenders than try to find a suitable USB dongle that will work on both OS.

Provided you do not already have othe powerline devices connected to the home hub.

Re: Wi-fi connection from a desktop

I have used Netgear and Maplin USB wireless dongles with a dual boot XP and Linux machine in the past. I seem to recall they worked but were a little temperamental with Ubuntu Linux.

Re: Wi-fi connection from a desktop

I've just remembered that I used NDISwrapper and the XP driver on Ubuntu when I used the Netgear WG111.
