WiFi and ethernet connections not fully working (ipv6 issue)

On Saturday morning (11th march 2017) i noticed that my Samsung galaxy s7 edge was no longer working on WiFi to my btsmart hub.

I could browse the internet with seemingly no trouble on the browser.

However Facebook, Google plus, Instagram ...... Any app would not work through WiFi.

Thought it was my phone but after reinstalling everything on my phone it's clear it's the by hub

Also noticed that i couldn't even join this forum through ethernet on my laptop as the capatcha code won't show

My connection is terrible.

After research to no avail i know its got something to do with ipv6 or whatever this is.

I have no idea have to get things back to the way they were before saturday.

I had to join this forum using mobile data on my phone due to the issue.

Please please please somebody explain my issue and help me fix it.

@mikeyaj

Welcome to this user forum.

Have you tried a factory reset of the home hub?

Re: WiFi and ethernet connections not fully working (ipv6 issue)

of course

that was my first port of call

i've done all the "turn it of and on" , "factory reset" stuff

there must be an actual issue

is this ipv6 got anything to do with it?

Re: WiFi and ethernet connections not fully working (ipv6 issue)

Please can you post the information from the smart hub, using this link.

http://192.168.1.254/0000012803/gui/#/technicalLog/information

Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.

Re: WiFi and ethernet connections not fully working (ipv6 issue)

Cannot see anything wrong with those figures. I guess you must have done a factory reset a while back, as BT Wifi is showing inactive. Normally after a factory reset it shows as active, untill the next time the hub is contacted by BT, then the status is updated.

Could you please post the results from the http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/, including the further diagnostics, this must be done using an Ethernet cable.

See if anyone else on this user forum has any ideas

Re: WiFi and ethernet connections not fully working (ipv6 issue)

@Keith_Beddoe

download speed mbps = 62.11

upload speed mbps = 16.14

ping latency ms = 17.75

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.

 Download Speed
 62.11 Mbps

0 Mbps64.29 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 62.11 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 40 Mbps-64.29 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 64.29 Mbps

2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.

 Upload Speed
 16.14 Mbps

0 Mbps20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 16.14Mbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

Re: WiFi and ethernet connections not fully working (ipv6 issue)

Nothing wrong with that either, so you have a good connection right up to the BT core network.

There have been a few posts on this forum to do with BT DNS errors, which could explain missing images.

On your PC, would it be possible for you to temporarily change your network settings to use Google Public DNS instead of BTs DNS?

See if that resolves the issue with missing images.

You could disable IPv6 on the smart hub, to see if it helps.
