Hi, Smart Hub 2 changed out twice! Strong wifi signal indications, even during failures, broadband doesn’t drop, router restart generally clears the problem. 20’ away and without explanation ipads and iphones simply cannot access the internet. Carry out a speed test using fast.com and can’t connect to server. Take either phone or ipad close to router and do the same, and first or second attempt and full signal speed achieved, move back to the original position and with signal strength indication being exactly the same, full strength, access to the internet has miraculously restored!
BT and Openreach technicians are at a loss, and of course whenever they investigate, the answer is RWT every time!
Anyone with ideas will be welcomed. Thanks
You're getting interference from somewhere. Use an app to scan for the channels in use near-by and then pick different channels on the hub. For 2.4GHz use 1, 6 or 11. Ignore the ones in between, they will cause more problems than they solve due to probable adjacent channel interference. With 5GHz probably best to stick below channel 52 onward to avoid problems with radar etc.
Edit: Alternatively, it could be the position of the hub. If it is low down, things like furniture, human bodies can be very effective at blocking the signal. It's better higher up.
Try turning of Private Mac Address on your Apple devices the restart your devices.
