Problem Accessing certain websites!

Well, I have read some threads about people not being able to access certain websites since mid this week and understand BT seems to have connectivity problem to China-hosted server.

Apparently this has seriously affected my famiy as we use some of the 'blocked' websites almost every day and my son uses one of these websites for an on line course which he hasn't been able to access for a few days, which has been very very annoying!!

Shouldn't BT have informed their customers about any changes they intended to make beforehand!!!!

Can any one from BT just explain in plain language please!

1. what has happened

2. is it going to be a permanent issue and are you looking at solving the problem?

3. if these sites will be blocked permanently, can we cancel our 1 or 2 year contract with BT and go elsewhere!

Many thanks.

Re: Problem Accessing certain websites!

Do you know anyone who is not with BT that can still access these websites?
I guess the servers may not be BTs

Re: Problem Accessing certain websites!

You can check whether the websites are accessible using https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

The ones that I have been having issues with are all reported as being fine for everyone else (presumably anyone who is not on BT!)

Re: Can't open some website with BT wifi but it works using data

Just checked all of these using https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and they all seem to be accessible from elsewhere on the internet, so that seems to suggest the issue is just for customers of BT.

Re: Wifi not letting me connect to Yi Home Camera server

My OH has also had the same problem this weekend. He uses the SriCam app to keep an eye on his elderly father. It says camera offline, but was working for his sister who is with a different internet provider.

We use our own TPlink router. The app works fine if he turns off WiFi on his device and uses Mobile Data too.

Can’t help with the testing sorry...

Re: Wifi not letting me connect to Yi Home Camera server

So should we just wait for BT to resolve the issue then?

Re: Wifi not letting me connect to Yi Home Camera server

I've changed my Android's Wi-Fi to use Google DNS server. The Yi Camera App is now working again.

I will live with the Yi PC App not working until BT resolve their DNS issues.
