Windows 7 laptop comes up with security key mismatch BT Smart Hub

We have a BT Smart Hub with a number of MACs, iphones and a Windows 10 laptop connected - all fine. However a work laptop running Windows 7 will not connect even though it recognises the network. It just comes up with a "Security Key Mismatch" error. Have tried some of the solutions online but no joy. Can anyone help please?

Re: Windows 7 laptop comes up with security key mismatch BT Smart Hub

Have you checked the security setting are correct on the Win 7 laptop for what you use on your LAN?

Open the Network and Sharing Center
In the left pane click Manage Wireless Networks  (or Change Adaptor settings)
In the list of networks right click your wireless network and click Properties
Click the Security tab and check its settings.

EG: WPA,  WPA2,  TKIP,  AES.

Change to suit the access point (Hub) settings.  (Remember to change back when you take the laptop to work).
