Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

Hello,

Hope someone can offer some help. I got a new xbox one today and got rid of the old one, happy days. It appeared to connect to the internet fine but now it keeps disconnecting from the Smart Hub every 10 seconds. I have read some other posts in the forums which seem to suggest it may be an issue, but surely it would affect every xbox user?

I have tried the usual suggestions of port forwarding etc, every setting under the sun. Below is an extract from the tech logs

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

My xbox one x has been working fine but I dont use a home hub.

If i'm reading that log correctly you are using ethernet. Have you tried a different ethernet cable?

Also do you get the disconnects if using wireless?

Also might be worth trying a factory reset of the home hub.

also is there any way you can try your console at a friends house to see if it happens when connected to thier router, preferably a router thats not a home hub. This would rule out the possibility of you having a faulty xbox

Tried wireless and it works fine.

Reset to factory settings, tried a different cable, issue still persisted wired. Baffled

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

Some Smart Hubs seem to have problems with the LAN ports.  Have you tried the cable in different ports?  If they all give the same result your hub may have a fault with the ports, especially as you have tried different cables.  Perhaps a third party VDSL router would be a good bet for gaming.

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

I'm sure I read a thread a while ago where someone had the same problem wired but it worked fine wireless.

I just think the home hubs are not fit for gaming at all and belong in the bin.

I absolutely detest them. The best thing I ever done was switch to third party routers.

Even the cheap third party routers are better than the BT ones.

Until you get a new router you are better of using wifi.

Best to use the 5Ghz band. Go into routers settings and give it its own ssid

5Ghz is generally faster and less prone to interference than the normal 2.4ghz band.

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

Thanks for your help! Im on 5Ghz now so will stick with that until I find a decent router, seems to be the preferred option

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

Hey, I just signed up to reply as you seem to be having a similar issue! I received my Scorpio yesterday and had it wired via Ethernet. When set up the device kept and dropping the connection, when I tested the connection it showed 0 upload speed and the usual download speed. No problems through wifi or using a wired connection via the adapters. Is this the same issue as yours? My PS4 pro works fine with the Ethernet connection.

I thought it was an issue with the console...

Please get in touch

Thanks

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

What do you mean by an adapter?

My PS4 works fine wired, I tried my old Xbox and it works fine. Reading other posts it seems like the smart hub to be the likely culprit. I’m yet to read anything about Xbox1x users having the same issue outside of BT

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

If you are using Powerline adapters, they should be plugged into their own socket in the wall. I have seen this sort of behaviour when they are placed on a extension lead with other piece(s) of equipment, which are connected to the network/internet.

Re: Xbox One X Intermittent Connection W/ BT SmartHub

I understand, I've always used my power line adapters on a wall socket. However this is an issue with a direct connection with the Ethernet to the Xb1X from the hub
