Abergavenny Routing Failures and Extensive Time-Outs

Here in Abergavenny, we were listed as one of the affected exchanges and now it says it's fixed. Rubbish. God knows how long it took to connect to the forum, but here for instance is my Tracert and Ping records for BT.com at 10.54 21.07.2016.

I have to say Tracert isn't even connecting as far as it was yesterday. At least then it got to my beloved Faraday (used to work there many eons ago - happy days)

BT, or anyone, please help and sort it out. Thank you.

Re: Abergavenny Routing Failures and Extensive Time-Outs

As far as I can read, it's the same building that tripped the circuit. So my guess is the cleaning lady is plugging in the hoover at 8.30 am each morning causing the overload!

Re: bt dns issues southwest

I'm no network expert but isn’t there supposed to be resiliency bulit into these networks ? Ok there were power problems on one floor in one data centre causing issues. Surely the end users connection should re-route through another route after the first failed attempt. It shouldn't take 3-4 hours for BT to manually re-route which seems to be the case. In my opinion this is shoddy Network planning or bad change planning/implementation. Doesn't give us customers a warm feeling when you appear to have single points of failure on a national network.

Re: bt dns issues southwest

Glad BBC reported it again to shame BT over this farce. Their reputation was pretty low before all this kicked off, now it is in the gutter. Money grabbing organisation that has a monopoly and does not do enough to bring fibre to all parts of the UK. The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing half the time at BT but those at the top don't care with their huge salaries regardless of what happens. Congestion all over the place with many poor users struggling to use a fibre connection to 1% of it's potential in the evenings because they won't invest or effectively troubleshoot - it's totally unacceptable

To be honest I don't think BT should have the cheek to charge any single one of us for this month's broadband. Especially businesses that rely on their service. It will be so interesting to see if it happens tomorrow again.

Same here.

It has been ok for a couple of hours but can't access some pages again, speedtest.net is one of them I have just tried.

It is getting a joke now.
