Out of the blue I'm getting "can't establish a secure connection" on various ,but not all, websites. Facebook and HMRC for instance. Also my sons xbox live will not connect even though it has internet connection. I have narrowed this down to something not accepting the "handshake" at BT's end.
I have solved the problem for my mac laptop by changing it's DNS server settings to 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168 on the suggestion on a forum which I believe is Google's free DNS server but have also read that this is not secure. I shouldn't need to do this and it hasn't fixed xbox issue or any of our other devices.
Everything was working fine, perhaps it's corona virus!!
Reluctant to go through BTs tech support having been there before so thought I'd try here.
any help would be much appreciated
There's nothing wrong in using google DNS. Its no less secure than any other. You would have to change DNS on all devices or get a third party router.
