ip and physical location
Any search “near me” or route based on starting from “my location” insists that I am somewhere in the far north of Scotland, not where I catually am in the south of England. If I do a location check for my IP on several different sites it comes up with reasonably close positions – some very close, others e.g. London or Reading when I am between the 2.
This is the same on two PCs on the same home network so it has to be the router that being identified. The ISP is EE, just changed from BT in August which is about when this started. I have tried powering the router off for 30 mins or so to try to reset but no effect, and EE tech support says they have never heard of such a situation!

Re: ip and physical location
"Google "Geolocation" for the most likely answer" - yes I've done that and with various other services. They produce a reasonably accurate position. It's the search engines such as Google and Bing that show a very precise but totally incorrect position.
