smart hub 2 internet connection problems MacBook

Hi, My Macbook has stopped connecting to the internet although still remains connected to wifi via the smart hub 2. 

All other apple and non apple devices connect to internet ok and my Macbook connects to other routers (hotspot, ethernet and home hub 5 at other location).

It all worked fine for some months after installing Fibre but then suddenly stoped working.

Have tried apple who couldn't resolve the issue and tried power cycling, malwarebytes, new dns etc but no joy. 

I'd be grateful for any advice.

Since original post BT have sent me a new smarthub2 but still have the same problem.

Hi @Andy503,

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble connecting your Macbook to your Hub.

Have you switched off the Smart Set up within the Hub Manager?

@Andy503 

Can you try turning off one of the wireless bands just to see if your MacBook is struggling with both bands having the same name and continuously switching between them?

have turned off 5ghz band and internet connection appears to work ok.

That's why it disconnected.
Unfortunately it is an old problem with some Apple and some Android products not being able to handle the same name on the two bands simultaneously.
The Smart Hub 2 doesn't let you split SSIDs so all you can do is check if Apple have a firmware update or see if BT will send an original version Smart Hub.
