evening, after switching from sky to bt this month , my wifi lamp can no longer connect to "smart life" app for andriod. has anyone else having this issues. on sky 2.4ghz wifi works fine. even why i switch my router to dual bands it still cant connect and is driving me up the wall. any help appricated cheers
yes router split, tried with other phones and ipad but nothing. cant see anything in instructions about smart setup
I found this below on Amazon,
But I also tuned off 5ghz band first before trying it and when all my bulbs and plugs were connected I turned it back on.
DOES work with BT hub6 (smart hub). I ordered this bulb without reading the note which states this does not work with bthub6. Doh! But i was determined to find a way to make it work... i read a lot of reviews which said to go in to the hub manager and turn off 5ghz so i did that. But this alone didnt enavke the bulb to work. I figured out that once you turn off-on the bulb 3 times it flashes quick, then if you turn off and on again 3 times (so 6 in total) then it willl flash slow. Add the device in AP mode while flashing slow. Works 😄 so if you, like myself, bought the bulb before realising its "not compatible" with bt hub 6 then dont panic. It is possible.
It worked for me
Exact same problem
I have split the two 2.4 and 5 but then it messed up all my connections somehow. Anyway. Managed to get the bulb connected however google home work with 5 so coudn't make it work together.
So i thought i'd use your technique. I can see the bulb flashing slowly. But could you explain for a newbie like me what AP mode is? 🙂
I believe I have some similar lights to you.
When the bulb is flashing, it is in setup mode and you can connect it to your wireless network. It gives off a signal for your tablet / phone to connect to and tell it the settings.
Yes, when you split the bands you might give them different names and have to input the passwords again.
From reading your post it seems you got the bulb setup, is the Google Home a problem or did you just want a explanation? 😊
Thanks for your message.
I thought i managed the bulb but no.
Basically, i split the two wifi signals and tried that. So ultimately it did work with the app and i just had to connect it to the Home Hub. However, the Hub is on 5ghz . And because i had split them then i had to re setup my google home hub but could only set up on 5, not 2.4.
So set up both on their own wifi and then merged back the two but obviously didn't work ah ah.
So when the bulb is flashing slowly, does that mean i will be able to set it up even though i'm on 5?
Sorry to be pain
