2100 Graphite not working ( no line ) when plugged into ADSL filter ??

As  subject line says I cant get this to work in my adsl filter unless I plug the ph  line into the wall jack directly - which means i lose BB.

Is there a solution for this at all ( any one ) im using a filter i got with my thomson speedtouch 330 modem, and would prefer to keep it as I was told using other modems would likely reduce my bandwith due to my exchange/ line not being updated and old.

thanks

Change the filter, the old one has probably failed. It will make no difference to your broadband, and the new filters are better designed for the higher ADSL2+ service.

Are you plugging the filter directly into the master socket, or are you on an extension?

Does the filter look like this

And the phone does not work when plugged into the phone socket on the filter?

In that case, the filter is probably faulty.

As a matter of interest

Which type of master socket do you have?

One of these

Or one of these

Or if you are lucky

One of these

Keith,

phone works without the filter , just not with it - hence the BB problem

master socket looks like pic no 1 - top

Thanks, try a new filter. If you have extension sockets, it may be worth replacing the removable bottom section, with an ADSL faceplate.

Just as a matter of interest, have you tried plugging the filter and phone into the test socket behind the bottom section?

The faceplate may be faulty or making bad contact with the test socket.

BT should have sent you a couple of filters when you ordered broadband.

If not, they can be ordered from the BT online shop. They are listed as BT ADSL Micro Filter RS         £5.22

Search Google for BT Shop.
