I had some trouble with my line going back to June this year
checked all of my equipment, adsl filters, telephones, modems etc,
problem was either with BT line or master socket,
No problem I thought, ( BT are responsible for up to & including master socket )
openreach came, rewired socket, phone better, all was well.
UNTIL SEPTEMBER !!
BT bill arrives with the dreaded £99 charge
At NO time did either the openreach engineer or anyone at BT tell me I would be responsible
for any repairs contained up to & including the master socket.
Yet some 3 months later completely out of the blue a £99 charge.
To make matters worse, BTtook my quarterly bill & the "rogue" charge some 5 days before informing me that my bill was available online!
Imagine my surprise to find £148 had gone from my bank account before BT officially gave me notice off the bill.
You could not make it up !
Fair to say the "the very last" time anyone from BT (openreach) will be coming into many property of mine!
I have paid the quarterly bill but the other £99 remains in dispute !!
Hi and welcome to the forum.
I suspect that the socket was either physically damaged or the socket was damp, all which you are responsible for I am afraid.

Yes, I contacted team last week
but thus far no reply.
"Fair to say" BT not the most patient company around
when it comes to having their bills paid !
