I have recently purchased a BT 8600 (single) for the main purpose of blocking nuisance calls - specifically those international, withheld and unavailable numbers, which I assume this phone will do. However no matter how much I follow the instructions, I can never get to the settings which gives me options for changing the settings for Blocked/ Allowed/ International, Withheld/ Payphones/ Mobile/ Unavailable. I keep going round and round in circles, and never get to where I want to be in the settings.
I just don't kow what I am doing wrong, unless there is something misleading regarding the instructions.
Has anyone else had any problems similar to this? And can anyone help me?
I may be doing something really silly, but if I am, I just don't know what it is.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I bought an 8600 before I had heard of Call Protect. Having signed up for the latter I have never bothered using the call barring of the 8600. So why not sign up for Call Protect while you get the 8600 sorted ?
Welcome to this user forum.
Have you read this page http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/55303/~/bt8600-advanced-call-blocker
There is a PDF document (user guide) which is a bit easier to read than the manual.
Page 28 is probably what you want.
You need to have caller display enabled on your phone line, to use the barring features.
Thanks. Will have a look at the pdf. How do I know if I have Caller Display enabled?

If somebody rings you, does their phone number appear on the phone display?
Yes it does, unless it's an international, withheld or unavailable number. Page 28 is just about using the phone. I don't see anything about blocking calls.
Page 20 deals with customisation of Call Guardian.
Thanks. So that's page 22.
First of all when the phone rings and the call is displayed as International, I press the Block button but I keep getting the message that the caller has not allowed me to to do this (presumably block the number).
And when I access the custom mode (and I have done this loads of times, I still have not been able to access (what is on page 23) - No. 6 - changing the settings for Blocked/ Allowed/ International etc
Have you tried ringing the helpdesk number?

I don`t think you can block international calls that way.
Thanks. Will try that and see how I get on!
