Is my Call Protect Working ok?

Go to solution

I have call protect activated according to MyBT but every time I go into manage the settings is says personal blacklist and also BT Blacklist are off. When I change these to ON they go green and it says theyare turned on. But when I leave the site and go back on they are still showing as OFF.

Any help with this?

Stuart

I'm getting the same as you @Toddie1982, I had Witheld numbers allowed but BT have seemingly blocked them now.

My guess is that  changes to the Settings are taking effect but are not shown on our account. Account management, systems etc don't seem to be any of BT's strong points.

@Toddie1982 , @Andy005 ,

Yes, this needs clarification. Will ask....
In the meantime, don't change anything , if it's working as it is. Once it's set for your preferences, then they remain, regardless.
That is:- you set the choices as "ON", then close.
You can check settings for withheld numbers, for example by dialling 141 before your number on a mobile.

Hi guys,

Thanks for posting and I am sorry you're having this problem.

I have raised this with the product team and I will post back when I received a reply.  It may be after the Easter holidays before I hear work back.

Cheers,

Robbie

@NeilOwrote:

You can turn off the Call Protect service in My BT by clicking on the 'Manage Landline' then Manage Calling Features' and choose the option to 'Remove Messaging services'.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick.

Re: BT Call Protect Settings Problem

Hi @RobbieMac , @Ribblelancs , et al,

I had not checked my settings for quite some time but did so yesterday as a result of this topic.

I too found that My Personal & BT Blacklist had been switched off.  So I resest them both to on.

I checked a few moments ago and they have been switch to off.

So it would appear as though I am suffering from this glitch as well.

Edit a few minutes after making the changes.

My Personal & BT Blacklist have been switched off in just those few minutes !!!

Yes, it casts a doubt in your mind as to whether you are going to miss a call or receive more junk.
Don't suppose nuisance calls will be a problem over Easter Hols. Smiley Tongue

I did the following after some initial fiddling and finding out the hard way.
Set Personal and Blacklist to ON and then select your options.
Even though the Personal and Blacklist are shown as OFF the next time those settings you made are still active.
You can try settings for Withheld calls and ring your home phone from your mobile with the 141 number prefix (this withholds your mobile number).

Hi @Ribblelancs ,

I tried your suggestion and you are quite correct.
